If you haven’t had the time to check out Gary Clark Jr. yet, hop on YouTube and watch When My Train Pulls In. You won’t be disappointed. He’s basically the successor to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix.
His studio album Blak and Blu was incredible. It was a good and surprising mix of blues and R&B. The sound is very tight and you can tell the songs are well rehearsed with no frills or over-extensive guitar solos.
The LIVE album though is undoubtedly going to be incredible. I’m sure it’ll be the same as I heard a month ago at the Red Butte Gardens in Salt Lake City. The setlist is identical so it’s from his Summer 2014 tour. I was completely blown away not only by his original compositions but by the covers: Oh Pretty Woman and 3 O’clock Blues. I can’t wait to get my hands on this album and everything Gary releases in the future.
